Small Shelly Fauna

Since time immemorial I have resolved not to reduce myself to any form of diarism, be it real, electronic, or partly-metal, partly-real. Such practice nearly always results in unbearable bombast and pretension, faux-weighty pathos, or some combination of the two. However, desperate times call for desperate measures, and there are certain...obligations...one cannot refuse. Thus, my entrance into the world of "blog" (a singularly unpleasant word if e'er there was one.) I only hope that it will be ranked as pretentious and pathetic enough to be worthy of consideration.
